Cardiff University

Cardiff University is a world-leading research institution. CU ranked 5th in the UK in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) for quality and 2nd for Impact. Recognised as a leader in higher education in Wales, it is the only Welsh member of the Russell Group of 24 leading research-intensive UK universities. With around 31,000 students (around 22,000 undergraduates and 9000 postgraduates) representing over 100 countries, Cardiff University is the 8th largest university in the UK in terms of student numbers. Cardiff University has been involved in the Erasmus programme since the programme was first established in 1987. As an institution we have over 285 inter-institutional agreements, with universities across 27 countries throughout Europe.

EUROGEO is a European scientific society, a not-for-profit organisation, whose aims are to develop, support and promote policies designed to advance the status of Geography; establish and promote cross-border cooperation and represent nationally and internationally the views of its members. Association activities include organising events, producing publications, supporting geographers and geo-educators in their jobs and careers, supporting the teaching of geographical sciences, identifying and promoting good practise, co operating with the European Union, Council of Europe, Parliamentary Assembly and other relevant organisations; lobbying at European and where relevant national level, providing a forum for the discussion of matters of common interest to geographers, giving advice on geography and making recommendations to policy makers.

We are a thriving international organization that consistently attracts outstanding individuals, both students and staff, with extensive geographically diversity. Our institution hosts many international conferences and has been involved in the Erasmus programme for many years. Our institution considers education and research to be synergistic activities that nourish and inform each another. Our current university strategy has a renewed focus on education and the student experience which aligns with key aim of the Erasmus+ project, to enhance equity, agency and transparency in assessment practices in higher education.

University of Zaragova

The University of Zaragoza is a public teaching and research institution which combines almost five centuries of history (since 1542) with a constantly updated range of courses. The University of Zaragoza has more than 30,000 students; 5,100 teaching and research staff and over 1,800 administration and service staff.  

The University of Zaragoza’s international commitment is based on mobility programmes for students and personnel, double-degree programmes, bilateral and multilateral agreements, research projects and worldwide university cooperation projects for development. 

The University of Zaragoza has almost 2000 agreements with institutions from all over the world. Over 1000 of our students participate in various exchange programmes annually and we welcome around 800 international exchange students every year and more than a thousand students of Spanish, coming together from more than 90 different countries. Around 120 members of our staff go on educational visits to other countries every year.

University of Minho

Founded in 1973, UMinho is nowadays one of the most important and prestigious HEIs in Portugal. It is renowned for the competence and quality of its faculty and for the level of excellence in research as well as the wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses offered and the remarkable degree of interaction with other institutions and the society in general. 

Located in the north of Portugal, UMinho has a campus in the city of Braga and two other in the city of Guimarães, which cover a student population of around 20000, 40% of which are master or PhD students. The University has 1200 teaching and research staff and around 800 technical and administrative staff. 

Minho is a research university, committed to the valorisation of knowledge and also focused on the socio-economic environment, with many successful partnerships. The Shanghai Ranking 2019 ranked UMinho between the 500 best universities worldwide, and Times Higher Education, in the University Impact Rankings 2019, considered UMinho as the best Portuguese university and the 83th across the world for its social and economic impact, based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. 

Internationalisation is an institutional priority and UMinho has a long and soundly-based experience in coordinating and participating in several EU programmes
